Marami Medhi, a versatile, dynamic and an accomplished danseuse from Assam is a well known name in the field of Kathak. She is the founder of a rapidly growing Kathak dance institute namely “Sur Sangam” in the heart of Guwahati city with many upcoming talents. She has been an “A” grade artist of Doordarshan Kendra, New Delhi.

She received her initial training in Kathak dance under the prevailing guidance of Late Charoo Bordoloi, the founder Principal of State College of Music, Guwahati. Subsequently she became a disciple of renowned Kathak maestro late Surendra Saikia of Kathak Kendra, U.P. Sangeet Natak Academy, who is also a recipient of Sangeet Natak Academy award, Uttar Pradesh. She did Nritya Nipun , (M. Mus) in the year 1994 in Kathak dance from Bhatkhande Sangit Vidyapith. Lucknow.

Marami has also attended some valuable workshop of kathak dance under the guidance of great maestro Pandit Birju Maharaj. She has been awarded a two year fellowship in the year 2000-2001 from Ministry of Human Resource Development, Deptt. Of Culture, Govt. of India.

Marami Medhi has received ‘SINGAR MANI’ title in recognition of her meritorious performance in the prestigious 44th Kal Ke Kalakar Sangeet Sanmelan held at Mumbai on 23rd May, 2005. She is a panel Artist of Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Govt. of India in the field of Kathak (Solo).
